Lately we have had a visitor Elsa and she is from the University of Bath . She will be working with us to see how being in Eco club has any benefits for us, like increasing our solving problem skills and working in groups. We're looking forward to seeing what we can learn from her too.
This term we made a start on our environmental audit of the school. We went around the school and made a map of the areas of the school that are good and bad for the environment. We realised that we don't have many flowers. We do have lots of trees and this is good because they are habitats for wildlife. We have also had Gaynor, from the Young Person's Trust for the Environment, come into school to work with the year 2,3,4, and 6 classes on what we like and could improve about the school grounds. Gaynor will work with us for the next three years to make our school grounds even more fantastic.
We are having solar panels being put up on top of our school roof and therefore the eco club have decided to focus on energy this year. We are researching solar panels and will be telling the school about these soon. In our school we are also trying to reduce the energy that we use! Well done for saving energy, Newbridge!
